Reports indicate that there may be new Apple Watch variants come March. Apple-watching website 9to5Mac stated that the company from Cupertino will be having a March media event to announce its second-gen Apple Watch, comprising a host of new models with a wider range of bands spanning new materials and colors.

They also indicated that the new watch may sport the updated WatchOS 2.2, although no significant changes are expected in the core specifications of the Apple Watch. However they do expect enhancements to be unveiled on the software side of the watch, with more features and functionality.

Apple has traditionally shied away from disclosing actual shipment number pertaining to their watch, but CEO Tim Cook did state that Apple Watch sales were higher than company expectations in Q4 of the last year.
