Indian pugilists got off to a blazing start in the Asian Boxing Championship in Zhuhai, China, with three boxers — Suranjoy Singh, Dinesh Kumar and Paramjit Samota — winning their respective bouts without breaking into sweat on Sunday.

According to information received here, Suranjoy was the first to put up a dominant show against Hong Kong’s Lam Tat Ming to seal a berth in the quarterfinals of the flyweight category. Suranjoy was leading 14-1 in the second round when referee stopped the bout and declared Suranjoy winner.

In a quite similar fashion Dinesh Kumar won over Lebanon’s Batlouni Firas in the light heavyweight category with referee again stopping the contest in the first round when Dinesh was enjoying a 10-2 lead.

But the icing on the cake came from Paramjit Samota, who entered the semifinals of super heavyweight category with a 12-4 win over Mongolian Davaalkhagva Iderbat.
Suranjoy now faces Pak Jong Chol of Korea while Kumar is pitted against Hsiao Huang Yi of Chinese Taipei in the quarterfinals and Samota will lock horns against Abdullaev Sardor of Uzbekistan in the semis.

Two more Indians will be in fray on Monday. In the bantamweight category, Jitender Kumar takes on Butdee Chatchai of Thailand while in the lightweight section Jai Bhagwan is slated to fight it out against Adi Sailom of Thailand.
