Jagjit Singh to hit idiot box

Off late, it’s become sort of a trend for movie stars to make appearances in TV serials to promote their films. However, now even the singers are following suit. Even they’ve realised the power and reach of television.

And the latest entrant to join the bandwagon is Jagjit Singh. The ghazal maestro will make a special appearance in Zee TV’s Banoo Main Teri Dulhann to promote his forthcoming album.

When Zee TV approached Jagjit to grace one of the episodes, he was very happy to oblige. So now the track has been changed a bit to accommodate him in the show.

In the episode, which will be telecast on April 7, Amar’s (Sharad Malhotra) company will be felicitated with the young achievers award and Jagjit Singh will grace the occasion as the guest of honour. He will also sing a ghazal from his forthcoming album Imtihaan.

The singer enjoys a huge fan following and the lead actors of the show are no exception.
Sharad says, “I have attended Jagjit Singh’s concerts earlier but this is the first time I’m going to meet him in person. I’m so excited that I cannot express it in words.”

Sharad’s co-star Divyanka Tripathi, who plays Divya in the show, echoes his words.

She says, “I am too excited about the development. Jagjit Singh’s ghazals are amazing. There is a surreal feeling you get when you hear his voice.

It drowns you in mysticism. It goes straight to your heart.”

Sharad ends by saying, “Both Divyanka and I are die hard ghazal fans and have almost every album of Jagjit Singh.”
