Ten minor students suffered serious head injuries when they were beaten up allegedly by
their teacher who was angry at them for making noise in the class of municipal school here.

The incident took place in the MCD school in New Ashok Nagar area of East Delhi yesterday, police said on Thursday. The students of Class III claimed their teacher thrashed them with a bamboo stick fitted with iron nails for creating noise inside their classroom.

Police said the incident came to light when officials of Lal Bahadur Shastri Hospital informed police that ten students of the school were admitted with "severe head
injuries."

Police, which reached the hospital, summoned the school principal who then said Raj Kumar Sharma, a teacher, had allegedly beaten up students. Doctors apparently told police that the injuries could have been caused by a stick fitted with a nail.

Sharma was arrested and a case under section 308 (attempt to culpable homicide not amounting to murder) has been registered.
