The Indian Premier League (IPL) has come out with yet another schedule. Just a day after its talks with the Home Ministry failed, the BCCI submitted a fresh proposal, re-jigging certain dates and identifying new venues. The BCCI has also eliminated a few venues.

A Ministry official confirmed having received the fresh proposal on Tuesday. Contrary to expectations of another meeting between the IPL organisers and the Home Ministry officials on the revised schedule, the new proposal was faxed by the BCCI officials to the North Block.

The proposal was immediately sent to the States, which are to hold the matches, for their approval on security related issues. “A final decision on the issue will be taken only after the States’ approval is received,” the official said.

As per the revised programme, there will be no matches in Jaipur, Delhi and Visakhapatnam. Ahmedabad will get to host a full quota of seven matches while, Dharamshala and Cuttack will get matches of Delhi Daredevils and Deccan Chargers respectively. Kolkata, contrary to expectations, will get to host all the KKR matches.

State cricket associations in Gujarat and Bengal have confirmed that they have got the all-clear from their respective State governments. According to sources in Ahmedabad, Motera will host matches on April 11, 13, 17, May 6, 9, 10, 13. Bangalore is likely to host games on May 4, 7, 10, 11, 14, 19 and 20.

The sources said the new schedule has taken into consideration the security constraints of all the State governments and has been prepared in such a way that it would not hinder the election process.
“We do not expect any problems now. The Home Ministry will consult the state governments and then get back to us,” an IPL official said. Meanwhile, there are also reports of Raipur getting some matches. A flood-lit stadium has come up recently in the capital of Chhattisgarh. Bangalore, Kolkata, Mohali, Hyderabad and
Mumbai will host bulk of the matches. In fact, Mumbai is scheduled to host nine matches — seven home matches of Mumbai Indians besides the inaugural game and the final.
