The Central Bureau of Investigation has sought the state government's sanction to prosecute a senior UP cadre IAS officer on charges that he violated set norms while allotting funds and land to a nurses training centre and other projects.
"The government has received a formal request from the CBI in this regard and is reviewing the charges against the IAS officer. A decision will be taken soon," a senior home department official here said.
The state government had recommended a CBI probe against 1988 batch IAS officer Manoj Singh, during his tenure as the
district magistrate of Pilibhit between 1998-2001.
It is alleged that Singh, who is currently posted as commisioner in the rural development department, allotted land and funds for a nurses training centre and other projects in violation of set norms.
The probe was carried out by the Delhi unit of CBI, which has decided to submit a chargesheet in the case, sources said.
