Actor Sanjay Kapoor, who has emerged from wilderness by playing the role of a failed movie star-turned director in Zoya Akhtar's Luck by Chance feels that success is a relative term.

"I have been around for 13-14 years. I may not have become a superstar like Shah Rukh and Aamir Khan. But I have had my share of successes like Sirf Tum, Raja," Sanjay said.

He said it was better to grow as an actor rather than taste success in the first film and disappear after three-four years.

Sanjay said having a successful older sibling (Anil Kapoor) in the same profession has nothing to do with his success or failure.

"It's true that there are comparisons. But you are what you are. My success or failure has nothing to do with my siblings," he said adding that Sonam Kapoor may be brother Anil's daughter, but she will be judged in her career as an individual actress.

He said he was overwhelmed by the response to his performance in Luck By Chance.

"It was a comedy role and friends, family complemented me saying that I was brilliant and relaxed getting into the character very well."

"I have done action, romantic, negative roles so far and was always told that since I am a funny guy in real life I should attempt comedy. But I was not getting a substantial role. I am happy I got one in LBC," he said.

"It's a great feeling to be appreciated. It has been a while that I went through this phase," he added.

Speaking about his first home production It's my Life directed by Anees Bazmi, Sanjay said the film is an adaptation of a Telugu movie which won Genelia D'souza a Filmfare as well as a Andhra Pradesh government award.

"Production is in my blood. My father was a producer even before I was born. I want to produce quality cinema and am confident that my debut movie will do well," he said.

"It's my Life is a love story with an element of comedy. Genelia was confirmed as a female lead because she had done the original. I wanted a young boy and had only Ranbir Kapoor and Harman Baweja in mind. Ranbir was doing Sawaariya and was under contract. I knew Harman because I worked with his father in Qayamat," he said.

Harman and Genelia make a good pair and Nana Patekar plays Harman's father in the film. "I am confident that my movie will do well," he said.

Sanjay said he will release the film this year. "It's 90 per cent complete. The last schedule will be in Delhi later this month," he said.

Speaking about his own acting career, Sanjay said he  is doing Prince with Vivek Oberoi and newcomers and Kirket a satire on IPL and ICL with Jackie Shroff.

When asked how he would rate his career spaning more than a decade, Sanjay said he was a positive person. "I will say my glass was half full and now with Luck by Chance, it has got a little better. I am hoping for the best," he said.

Sanjay said his entire family was eagerly awaiting neice Sonam's Delhi 6 next week.
