Michelle Obama may have added to the "my wedding ring doesn't match my outfit" theory after she was spotted without her band at president-hubby Barack's inaugural ball.

The first African-American first lady of the United States had sported her gold band earlier at the Inauguration Ceremony on January 20, when she headed to church grasping her better half's hand.

But the mum-of-two was later spotted minus the ring at the inauguration night, reports The New York Daily News.

Michelle was, instead, seen wearing a huge diamond and platinum art deco ring on her left middle finger to match her later outfit, a white chiffon, one-shoulder gown, designed by Jason Wu.

While fashion experts would agree that the pairing of a gold band with platinum jewellery may not be advisable, Michelle's ringless finger may be regarded as a simple omission.

However, her preceding trend followers Jennifer Lopez and Madonna have found themselves at the centre of suspicions when they were spotted without their wedding bands.

As per Lopez, "sometimes that little ring just doesn't always go with her outfit."
