World football body FIFA, one of the most coveted clients of the beleaguered Satyam Computer, on Thursday said it was closely monitoring the developments.

"FIFA is closely monitoring the situation related to Satyam," a FIFA spokesperson said from Zurich.

Satyam is the information technology partner for the 2010 and 2014 FIFA World Cups.

However, about the existing contract, he said, "Right now, it's too early to make a comment. We are seeking information and waiting for additional information to crop
up."

Hyderabad-based Satyam was the first Indian company to sign up as a FIFA World Cup sponsor in 2007. According to the agreement, Satyam bagged the global
rights for the 2010 World Cup in South Africa, 2014 World Cup in Brazil and the two FIFA Confederation Cups during the 2007-2014 period.

Satyam was the fourth company after Anheuser-Busch, McDonalds and MTN to join the proposed six-member FIFA World Cup sponsor line-up.
