SHIMLA: A dozen of 28 historical temples submerged in Gobind Sagar lake at Bhakra Dam in Himachal Pradesh would be relocated with the help of the Centre, Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal said on Thursday.

The CM said that the temples, built during eighth to 19th century, have also been declared as monuments of 'national importance' by the Archaeological Survey of India.

These temples were submerged into dam water to pave way for the completion of first hydro electric power plant of the country in 1963.

The state government received this information through a communication from Union Tourism Minister Ambika Soni, an official release said.

The state government has demanded the union government to relocate of these temples as religious sentiments of the locals were attached with them.

Some of these temples become partially visible when the lake water recedes during winters and early summer months.
