‘I want to get into production’

Abhay Deol talks about his off-the-camera filmi ambitions

In keeping the traditions of the Deol family, Abhay says that he is quite a recluse himself. We caught up with Abhay to grill him on why does he shy away from the media.

“As far as being a recluse is concerned that is very much like my family. You don't see much of my brothers, my uncle I mean we have never actually gone out there. We are not media savvy. They themselves have said that I think I have got a lot of that from them. In terms of being reclusive I think that's something of a natural tendency to me,” he says. Abhay adds, “I like to keep my personal life personal always. I remember sometime back the girl I was dating wanted to break up with me after she read an article which said that I was spotted with someone. The article did not even have her name but she did not like it. It almost jeopardised our relationship and so I don't really look forward to discuss about my private life.”

The actor says he wants to start a production company soon. "I want to get into production before direction. Directing a film will take a long time. I want to first become a good actor learn stuffs and then do some production. A director has so much at hand that he needs to be skillful and experienced enough before venturing out into directing films. He has to know framing, lighting and so many other things. He has to be economical and make the most out of the budget. I know many people in the industry and so I think production will come as a natural progression. Directing will take time,” he ends.
