NEW YORK: Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin thought that she was speaking to French President Nicolas Sarkozy when a pair of well known Canadian comedians made a prank call to her.

The call was made by Marc-Antoine Audette and Sebasien Trudel, who are known as the 'Masked Avengers', The Los Angeles Times reported on Sunday.

Audette, who was impersonating Sarkozy, discussed with Palin the state of her campaign and said that one day he could see her as US president.

"Maybe in eight years," Palin laughed and answered diplomatically.

She enthusiastically talked to the fake Sarkozy.

"It's so good to hear you, thank you for calling us ...we have such great respect for you, John McCain and I, we love you!" Palin said.

While Trudel discussed with Palin his love for hunting, saying, "I just love killing those animals. Take away life...that's so fun!"

Audette, who was impersonating Sarkozy, told Alaska governor that his wife--Carla Bruni--was "so hot in bed."

The call lasted several minutes with Audette talking about an adult film, which reportedly features a Palin look-alike.

"I really love you," Audette concluded before informing Palin that she had been duped.

Palin's campaign spokesperson Tracey Schmitt later admitted that the Alaska Governor was "mildly amused."

The comedian duo in past have also targeted Nicolas Sarkozy, former French president Jacques Chirac and Britney Spears with prank calls.
