Shah Rukh Khan will make a superhero movie titled Ra.1.  The actor-producer has come up with this unique title for the hi-tech sci-fi film, which Anubhav Sinha will be directing.

I think the disastrous box office performances of films like Love Story 2050 and Drona should tell producers and directors that sci-fi/fantasy themes are very difficult to pull off. They need finesse and detailing. I hope SRK knows what he is doing.

With the exception of Krissh, desi superheroes have rarely clicked. This should have been enough reason to put Shah Rukh off the genre. But he is a perfectionist and I don’t see him putting out a shoddy product in the market. So it will be an interesting film.

Kerala nun Sister Alphonsa was declared a saint at ceremony in Vatican yesterday. Pope Benedict XVI canonised her at a ceremony in St Peter’s Square, making Alphonsa the first Indian woman saint.

This is a singular honour for the nun from a small village in Kerala. I believe that this sainthood comes after rigorous checking of facts about the miracles performed by the person in question. That someone from a humble background could bag an honour like this is doubly impressive.

I’m not very sure I believe in faith healing which is what Sister Alophonsa was known for. Of course given that she is an Indian this is an honour. But I don’t believe in any system that promotes superstition.

Bollywood megastar Amitabh Bachchan’s was said to be recuperating well and would be discharged in a few days from Mumbai’s Lilavati Hospital where he was admitted on Saturday after complaints of abdominal pain.

Abdominal troubles have always plagued Big B. It was really sad that he had to spend his birthday in a hospital, far from his family and friends. I hope he rallies around as he has always done. You have to hand it to the man, he is fighter.

Every time doctors have written him off, he has sprung back into action even stronger. Last time too, the rumours about his condition were really depressing. But he was back with even better performances and a very active lifestyle.
