NEW DELHI: A woman had quarrelled with the two bikers who caused Saturday’s blast at Sarai market in Mehrauli. The bikers were wearing helmets and even stared at her. The lone witness believes she would be able to recognise them. Delhi Police are yet to get in touch with her.
The day had not started on a good note for Razia Khan (name changed) as her ailing mother’s condition was deteriorating. A troubled Razia rushed out to buy some medicines. As she stepped out she almost bumped into a speeding bike.
An angry Razia shouted at the bikers, “Dekh ke nahi chala sakte. Zada jaldi hai to aap plane kharid lo, (Can’t you see where you are going? If you are in that much of a hurry, you might as well buy a plane).”
Hardly had she walked a few steps than she realised that something had gone terribly wrong. She turned around to look at the busy road of Sarai Market and to see that a bomb had gone off, injuring many people. It was much later that she heard about two bikers, dressed in black and blue, leaving a bomb and fleeing even as a boy picked it up and ran after them before getting killed. When the police and residents described the two terrorists, Razia realised that these were the two bikers she had quarrelled with.
“When I shouted at them, they had stopped the bike and stared at me for a few seconds before speeding off. The two were wearing helmets but I think I would be able to recognise them,” she said.
Razia is the sole witness to have had a glimpse of the bombers, but the Delhi police have not got in touch with her yet. “I thought the police would ask me to help them in the investigations, but so far no one has approached me. This is a small colony and people know each other by name, so it is not difficult for them to find me,” Razia added.
