10 killed, 26 injured in accidents in JK

Ten persons were killed and 26 others injured in separate road accidents in Samba and Doda districts of Jammu and Kashmir overnight, official sources said.

JAMMU: Ten persons were killed and 26 others injured in separate road accidents in Samba and Doda districts of Jammu and Kashmir overnight, official sources said.
    
A bus was on its way to Jammu from Bhaderwah when the driver lost control over it. The bus skidded off the road and fell into a gorge close to Neero nallah at Malnie in Doda district on Monday morning, they said.
    
Six people died on the spot while one succumbed to his injuries on way to hospital, they said.
    
Twenty five people suffered injuries in the incident. Of them 13 were said to be critical and were airlifted to Jammu for treatment at Government Medical College (GMC).
    
Police and army launched an operation and recovered six bodies and shifted the injured to Doda and Bhaderwah hospitals, they said.
    
In another incident, a truck and car collided head-on on the Jammu-Pathankote highway in Sapwal area in Samba district late last night killing three people on the spot, they said.
    
The deceased were identified as Vaishno Devi, her son Amit Mahajan and driver Deepak Kumar. Devi's husband Chaman Lal suffered severe injuries in the accident and was hospitalised at GMC, they said.
    
The four, hailing from Amritsar, were coming from Punjab to Jammu.
    
The bodies of the trio were handed over to relatives after a post-mortem on Monday.
