MUMBAI: Former New Zealand batsman Hamish Marshall, who played for the Chandigarh Lions in the first phase of the Essel Group-owned Indian Cricket League (ICL), is all set to make a comeback in the cash-rich league this season.
Since Marshall’s contract with the Chandigarh expired after the first phase last season, the Kiwi batsman can get contracted with any of the seven outfits of the league in his second essay.
“It’s not necessary for Marshall to turn out for Chandigarh, he may choose among the offers he has received from the teams,” a source in the ICL told the DNA on Tuesday.
Marshall, after taking part in the first phase, sought permission from the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) to turn out in the county championship for the Gloucestershire. Marshall was among the three players, beside Shane Bond and Jason Gillespie, who asked for the Kolpak signing from the ECB.
