MUMBAI: A metropolitan magistrate here on Monday gave a clean chit to filmmaker Pooja Bhatt and producer Sujit Kumar Singh in an obscenity case filed against them for the movie 'Rog'.

The Bandra metropolitan magistrate discharged Bhatt and Singh in the obscenity case filed against them and their movie 'Rog', which was released in January 2005.

Social worker Vinod Jain had filed the case over the release of the movie stating that it is "vulgar" and has not received certification from the Censor Board of India.

Bhatt, Singh, the actress of the movie Ilene Hammam and the director of the movie, Himanshu Brahmbhatt have been accused in the case.

The four had filed an application before the Court last year, seeking discharge from the case.

The Court on Monday discharged Bhatt and Singh. However, the case against Hammam and Brahmbhatt is still pending after the two failed to appear before the Court.

Pooja's advocate Vinod Parekh, terming the magistrate's order as "landmark", said, "After this discharge order, people will think twice before filing a random case of obscenity against a film maker."
