My romance with Cruise could have been big: Cher

LONDON: Singer Cher believes her short-lived relationship with Hollywood star Tom Cruise could have become more serious since she was "crazy" about him.
 
Contactmusic.com reports that Cher dated Cruise almost 25 years ago when she was 36 and he was an upcoming 20-year-old. They had to break up when Cruise moved to Chicago from Los Angels to film Martin Scorsese's "The Color Of Money" in 1986. Cruise then married actress Mimi Rogers but split in 1990. 
 
Cher believes that despite the 16-year-age gap, the relationship would have worked out if their schedules didn't conflict.

Speaking on the "Oprah Winfrey Show", she said: "He was shy. He said he felt like such a boob in school and nobody talked to him. We went on a date once for dinner in a New York restaurant and the waitress was from his old school. He told me she never talked to him back in school, but now he was recognised he got all her attention. It could have been a great big romance because I was crazy for him."
