j_shilpa@dnaindia.netStar-studded is an understatement. On April 26, the Excel Centre in London will be ablaze with some of the biggest stars—not just from the Bollywood arena, but from the business world as well—as they get together to celebrate the magic of Indian cinema at the Zee Cine Awards.
Right from Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan, hot couple Kareena Kapoor and Saif Ali Khan, to corporate icons such Laxmi Mittal and Lord Swaraj Paul—they will all be witness (and, in some cases, participants) to a glittering extravaganza.
Incidentally, the Excel Centre has a 7,000 seat capacity and each one of those seats has been sold out.
“There will be top stars performing including SRK and Salman. Apart from Laxmi Mittal and Lord Swaraj Paul, more than 1,000 guests are being flown in from India for the mega event,” sources from the organising committee said.
The awards promise to be a tight contest. Last year’s blockbusters—Om Shanti Om, Chak De India, Jab We Met, Taare Zameen Par and Guru are in competition for most of the awards. But that doesn’t mean that films like Metro, Namastey London and Partner are to be left behind. They too figure prominently in the nomination sweepstakes.
While Aamir Khan finds himself nominated in both the Best Director and Best Supporting Actor Category, his film Taare Zameen Par is also competing for the best film with Chak De, Guru, Jab We Met, and others.
His co-Khan, Shah Rukh has also been nominated twice, but in the same category—Best Actor for Chak De and Om Shanti Om.
The Zee Cine Awards have always celebrated the best in India cinema and also provided great entertainment. Remember last year’s awards, when Salman-Katrina and Abhishek-Aishwarya did impromptu dances to declare their love? Well, expect more such surprises and fireworks this year as well!
