MUMBAI: Pyramid Saimira Entertainment Ltd has entered into a strategic partnership with UK-based Spize TV, a DTH platform wherein it will facilitate content agglomeration and new channels services.

An associate company of the Pyramid Saimira Group, Saimira Access Technologies Ltd had earlier picked up a majority stake in Spize TV.

P S Saminathan, MD, Pyramid Saimira Theatre Ltd, said: “The partnership allows us not only in terms of the existing investment in Spize TV through our equity stake, but also in building up a content library and monetising it from the NRI audience. This also sets us well on the way on our European expansion strategy.”

Spize TV is a pan-European direct-to-home (DTH) TV platform offering Asian and niche content to viewers in Europe. It will offer Urdu, Hindi, Punjabi, Bangla, Gujarati, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada, Singhalese and Malay channels.

It has also launched the complete suite of channels from the ARY Network (ARY Digital, ARY OneWorld, QTV, and The Musik) and two channels from the B4U Network (B4U Movies & B4U Music).

The fore-mentioned channels have been available since the soft launch of the channel, while the commercial launch for the viewers will be held in April 2008. Spize TV plans to target the 30 million strong European “niche and expat” viewers across Europe, North Africa and the Middle East.
