Looks like Darsheel Safary thinks just like his mentor Aamir Khan — or at least his parents do. The buzz is that the parents of this child actor who won rave reviews for his outstanding performance as a dyslexic child in ‘Taare Zameen Par’ are a little peeved with award ceremonies.

While they are happy that Darsheel will be nominated for a number of awards, they have apparently decided not to participate in any award ceremony which nominates Darsheel as a Child Actor because they feel he played the lead in the film.

Darsheel’s parents reportedly feel he should be nominated under the Best Actor category, especially since Aamir would automatically be nominated under the Best Supporting Actor category.

According to sources, in the last award ceremony, the organisers managed to appease the Safary couple by giving Darsheel the Critics’ Award for Best Actor!

It seems their argument does make sense as Darsheel plays the lead protagonist of the film and the film revolves around him throughout. And by now everyone, critics included, have been unanimous in acknowledging Darsheel’s brilliant performance in the film.

It may be recalled that after Manoj Night Shyamalan’s ‘The Sixth Sense’ was released and appreciated, the child actor of the film, Haley Joel Osment, walked away with many Best Actor awards.

Aamir Khan has not been a great advocator of awards either — he is known to skip all award functions. However, the film has managed to get as many as 14 nominations in the last awards ceremony and won seven of them.
