KOLKATA: A groundsman at the Eden Gardens was injured when he was hit on the knee by a ball thrown by V R V Singh during the afternoon practice session of the Indian team here on Friday.

The incident occurred when the Indians cricketers were practising running between the wickets and V R V Singh was fielding.

As the ball struck him, Swain, who was working on the centre wicket, fell and was seen writhing in pain.

Sachin Tendulkar and fielding coach Robin Singh rushed to attend to the groundsman.

A couple of other players also crowded around Swain, who received some medical attention.

After about ten minutes, Swain was carried off the ground.

Indian cricketers had a long session of yoga at the Eden Gardens during the intense preparations for the tour to Bangladesh beginning next week.

With the new coaching staff settling down fast, India's training sessions seemed more organised on the third day of the conditioning camp.

While the mornings were devoted to fitness and fielding drills and the afternoons to nets and batting practice on the first two days, the schedule was reversed today.

Sachin Tendulkar, steadily recovering from a right ankle sprain, did some knockings during both the sessions and also yogic exercises under the guidance of yoga guru Sukhdev Kumar.

Tendulkar, who was hurt on Wednesday when he ducked awkwardly to a S Sreesanth bouncer, did not seem troubled by the injury any more.

"It is as a precautionary measure that he is doing the knockings. He may go full blast at the nets from tomorrow," said a source close to the team.
