Five people abused Pillai and threatened to throw his off the running train

An ICICI bank employee was allegedly assaulted and threatened in a suburban local at Dombivli on Tuesday. Raju Pillai, 24, working as a senior officer with the Nerul branch of ICICI bank was on his way to office around 8:22 am, when he boarded the luggage compartment of a train at Kalyan.

Pillai was standing on the foot board of the over crowded train, when a group of four to five people tried jumping into the bogie from the tracks as the train reached Dombivli. They then asked Pillai to leave the door area for them, which they claimed was their fixed place in that train, since the last fifteen years.

“I told them that there was no place inside the bogie and that I was feeling too suffocated inside. I continued to stand there, but after some time one of them started abusing me. When I asked them not to use abusive language, they started threatening me that they will push me out of the moving train if I did not leave the place.”

Pillai was pushed inside and beaten up when he did not pay any heed to their threats.
According to the complaint filed with the Dombivli railway police, Pillai was punched and kicked on his back. The complaint also stated that the accused had threatened him saying if he was found travelling in the same train again, they would then push him out of the moving train.

On Wednesday, police officials from the Dombivli railway police, accompanied Pillai to identify the accused, but they were late and reached the spot when the train left the station.

“We have registered a complaint and asked Pillai to accompany our officials again so that the accused can be identified and arrested, a trap will be set at the station on Thursday morning and the accused will be caught when they board the train from the tracks,” said API Sampat Nirmal from the Dombivli railway police station.
