SONEPAT: Yakult-Danone India Ltd on Friday said it will invest Rs 100 crore in the next three years to increase capacity of its probiotic milk plant in Haryana and expand business across the country.

"We would invest about Rs 100 crore in the next 2-3 years for taking our product to newer markets such as Bangalore and Chennai," Yakult-Danone India Managing Director Kiyoshi Oike told here.

Yakult-Danone is a 50:50 JV between Yakult Honsha of Japan and France's dairy major Group Danone.

The plant has a production capacity of 11,40,000 bottles per day and is currently producing 73,000 bottles per day catering to the Delhi and NCR market.

"We would take the production to more than 10 lakh bottles per day in five to six years and also plan to launch our product in Mumbai by the end of the current year," he said.

While inaugurating the plant, Minister of State for Food Processing Industries Subodh Kant Sahai said: "We are looking to mobilise about Rs one lakh crore for the food processing sector in the next 3-4 years."

The plant has been set up with an investment of Rs 136 crore and the company expects to break-even in the next 3-4 years, Oike said.

Both companies are planning to extend their business partnership in Vietnam in the near future.
