Jet Airways leases five Boeing 737s

SINGAPORE: India's largest domestic airline, Jet Airways, has signed agreements to lease five more Boeing 737 planes, a Singapore-based aircraft leasing firm said on Monday.

The aircraft, known as the Next Generation 737, will be delivered new from the Boeing assembly line between March 2010 and November 2011, BOC Aviation said in a press release which did not state the value of the deal.

The latest deals bring to seven the number of aircraft Jet is leasing from BOC Aviation, the release said.
   
Last year Jet launched flights to Dhaka, New York, Toronto, Brussels and Bangkok as it moved to expand its operations beyond existing overseas destinations of Colombo, Kathmandu, Kuala Lumpur, Singapore, and London.

It began flying in 1993 and plies 44 domestic routes. BOC Aviation is 100 per cent owned by Bank of China.
