NEW DELHI: The northern railway on Wednesday denied media reports that the Delhi-Chandigarh Shatabdi Express train had caught fire in the morning near outer Delhi.

"There was no fire in any of the coaches in Shatabdi Express. All media reports talking of such an incident are bogus and baseless. We have inspected the train minutely and everything is in order," Rajiv Saxena, chief spokesperson of northern railway, said.

He said the train was delayed for 20 minutes before arriving at the New Delhi railway station.

"Some news channels and a news agency without confirming the facts from us presented the news before the public. We are sending them rejoinder notices," Saxena said.

It all started after a news agency and some private television channels reported that a Shatabdi coach had caught fire near Holambi Kalan in the Narela area of northwestern Delhi around 11 am
