NEW DELHI: The alliance between the BJP and the Shiv Sena is likely to remain intact. The possibility of an early parliamentary election seems to have brought about a change in the attitude of the leaders of both sides. The ceasefire is likely to be announced on Tuesday.

The Sena’s working president Uddhav Thackeray will visit New Delhi and meet leader of Opposition LK Advani at his residence, over lunch, on Tuesday.

Senior leaders of both parties realise that the spat has been detrimental to their political interests, and that it has only benefited their rival, the Congress. Uddhav has been trying to patch up with Advani for some time now.

The fact that Advani decided to meet Uddhav over lunch indicates that the two sides have arrived at a truce and will now look forward to reviving the bonhomie that they once enjoyed.
