MUMBAI: The Olympic torch relay for the 2008 Beijing Olympics is expected to pass through India's commercial capital on April 17.

Mumbai is among the 22 cities earmarked for the 2008 Beijing Olympics torch relay after it will be lit in Greece in March next year. The torch relay will pass through Mumbai, after visiting London, Paris, San Francisco and Canberra, before it finds its way through Nagano, Taipei, Hong Kong and Macau en-route to mainland China.

As part of the process, one of the torch relay's world-wide sponsors - personal computer maker Lenovo - will hold nominations to select an Indian citizen to represent the firm as the torch-bearer when the relay passes through the metropolis, a company release stated here on Tuesday.

Indian citizens above the age of 18 have been asked to nominate a sports personality from a list of ten, pre-picked by an eminent panel of judges.

Nominations can be submitted online by visiting the company website and will be accepted till October 1, the release added.
