INDORE: Even as mobile handset maker Nokia offered to replace faulty batteries, a Samsung mobile user on Saturday claimed that his phone exploded but said he was yet to bring the incident to the company's notice.

Rajesh Shastri, a resident of Musakhedi near Indore, said the lithium battery of his mobile phone heated up and exploded, but he was not injured in the incident.

He gave the model number of the Samsung battery as 'SCHN356'.

Earlier this week, handset leader Nokia set up a helpline after reports of a particular series of batteries heating up triggered panic among Nokia cell phone users, who rushed to the company showrooms seeking information and replacement of the batteries.

"There has been no complaint from India out of 100 complaints received globally. But supply of BL-5C batteries, covered under the advisory included India, so we have taken all pro-active steps to address customers' concerns," Nokia India Director (Marketing) Devinder Kishore had said.
