FOXBORO, MASSACHUSETTS: David Beckham was on the sidelines again on Sunday as his ailing left ankle kept him out of the Los Angeles Galaxy squad for a Major League Soccer clash with the New England Revolution.

The England midfielder made his eagerly awaited MLS debut in Thursday's match against DC United, but the 20 minutes he played at RFK Stadium caused swelling in his sore ankle.

That meant disappointment for a sellout crowd of 32,000 at Gillette Stadium on Sunday.

Beckham originally sprained his ankle playing for England in a Euro 2008 qualifier on June 6 and aggravated the injury as he helped Real Madrid to the Spanish League title.

Since he arrived Stateside to great fanfare in July, Beckham has made just a token appearance for the Galaxy in a friendly against Chelsea and his appearance as a substitute in the 1-0 loss to DC United.
