Five people were killed after a bomb blast occurred at Pakistan's Bajaur Agency near the Afghanistan border.

ISLAMABAD:bad, June 3 (DPA) Five people including a tribal chief, a government official, a policeman and a journalist were killed by a roadside bomb in northwest Pakistan, news reports said Sunday.
The blast occurred on Saturday evening in the Bajaur Agency near the border with Afghanistan while the group was returning to the local capital of Khar after a police operation to detain a suspect in the murder of a senior medical official.
The region has seen increasing activity by pro-Taliban and Al Qaeda-linked militants in recent months. On February 17, a roadside bomb also killed the Bajaur Agency's top surgeon.
