Lewd SMSes get scribe arrested

Model Nandini Jumani alleges harassment 

A freelance journalist was arrested by the Oshiwara police on Thursday for allegedly sending lewd SMSes to aspiring actress and model Nandini Jumani. The accused has been identified as Flynn Remedios, 34, a resident of Andheri (E).

According to the police, an application was filed by Jumani with the Oshiwara police on January 7, stating that Remedios, who was working as PR for Jumani recently, started sending her lewd SMSes.

Acting on the application, the police started their inquiry and arrested Remedios from his Andheri (East) residence. “We have arrested Remedios under sections 354 (outraging modesty of a woman) and 509 (making lewd gestures to the woman),” senior inspector Dilip Patil told DNA.

Speaking to DNA, Jumani said, “I met Remedios October last, and he told me that he is a journalist. After some days, he told me that he wants to do a PR for me and would charge nothing for it.”

“He used to say that he would make me a big star in the film industry. Later, he started sending me lewd SMSes and also said that if I would not listen to him, he would kill himself. For the last three months, he made my life miserable. He occasionally came to my house and was a nuisance,” said Jumani.

Remedios was produced before the metropolitan magistrate court at Andheri on Friday and was granted bail. However he was remanded in judicial custody in a cheating and rape case, where Remedios failed to pay the surety amount in 2004. Jumani worked in a music album known as Krazy Cat and also acted in films and popular advertisements.
