Three killed as vehicle transporting cops runs over them

 MUMBAI: Three persons were killed when a vehicle transporting policemen lost control and ran over them in Navi Mumbai on Monday, police said.

The jeep was transporting police personnel to their respective police stations at about 7 am when two of the tyres burst, causing the driver to lose control and run over the three persons who were walking on Palm Beach road, they said.

The driver, Sachin Patil, was arrested. The three persons were taken to a local hospital, where they were declared dead on arrival by doctors, police said.

The vehicle had been donated by the Agricultural Produce Marketing Committee in Navi Mumbai to transport police personnel and was not an official police van, they said.
