ISLAMABAD: Accusing India of creating law and order problems in Balochistan, Pakistan has said that Baloch nationalist leader Nawab Akbar Bugti was killed during a security forces' operation for resorting to confrontation with the Government and working against the country's national interests.

There were no anti-Pakistan political moves in Balochistan or elsewhere but influx of arms via Afghanistan through establishment of Indian consulates was creating problems and helping terrorists to disturb law and order, Information Minister Mohammad Ali Durrani said.

Bugtic was killed after he changed his political path and resorted to confrontation with the Government and worked against national interests of Pakistan, Durrani said.

"During the last six months, Bugti changed his trend of politics to open confrontation ... the Government tried its best to resolve the issues through dialogue," he was quoted as saying by 'The News' daily, while defending the Government's action against Bugti.

Durrani also released what he called a "fact sheet" containing atrocities against humanity in Balochistan committed by three prominent chieftains "having an outlook of terrorists".

The fact sheet contained details of crimes allegedly committed by Bugti and his fellow nationalists Khair Bakhsh Marri and Attaullah Mengal that "it is unchallengeable", he said.

The charges listed against the three included human rights violations, murder of 60 persons since 1992, sabotage activities, landmine incidents, terrorist activities against law enforcement agencies, anti-development activities, activities of the banned Balochistan Liberation Organisation (BLA), the news report.
