Actor Shaleen Bhanot (Karan) is back in ‘Saat Phere’ (Zee) after a two-month long sabbatical. The actor who plays the parallel lead with Shubra (Punam Gulati), Saloni’s (Rajashree Thakur) sister was shown imprisoned after allegations of betrayal and murder. Actually, Shaleen had been to London to shoot for a Sudhakar Bokade film but is now back to wreak vengeance on Saloni and her family in the show.

Shaleen confesses that it was while he was shooting for the film that he realised the massive reach of television. He says, “I was amazed when people recognised me as Karan. Punjabi families from South Hall who follow ‘Saat Phere’ closely would come up to me and say, ‘Kitna sweet dikhta hai phir itne bure kam kyun karta hai?’” He continues, “That’s when I called up the show’s creative producer and said ‘I’m coming back!”

Coming back to Bokade’s movie,  Shaleen, who was also part of the film ‘Pyare Mohan’ says, “It has been shot in a train in London. I play a guy who doesn’t fear death. The film revolves around two couples who travel from London to Scotland over a weekend.”  Shaleen, who was also part of the show ‘Sanya’ (Hungama TV), is waiting for the show’s second season to begin.

Strangely, when years back Shaleen left Jabalpur to do business in Mumbai; little did he know that he would end up being part of showbiz. He has picked up lessons the hard way and says, “Roti do hai, khane wale dus. Competition is great. To earn your bread you have to stay focused.” He also cautions, “Here people develop an attitude very fast. An actor must remember that there are 10,000 people behind him who are responsible for his success-from the storywriter to the producer to the light man.”

The ‘gaon ka guy’ has simple tastes in women too. “She should be simple, sweet, dressed in a shalwar kameez and wear no make-up,” he elucidates. Having huge expectations from himself Shaheen vouches, “I can justify the biggest of roles now.”
