MUMBAI: Jagmohan Dalmiya has been asked to appear before the Disciplinary Committee of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). In a letter to the former BCCI president, secretary Niranjan Shah has directed him to meet the committee at 1 pm on July 26 in New  Delhi.

According to sources, the BCCI has issued summons to Dalmiya following his failure to reply to a showcause notice. The Disciplinary Committee consists of Shashank Manohar and Chirayu Amin and is headed by Board president Sharad Pawar.

Dalmiya was suspended by BCCI on April 10 on the charges of misappropriation of funds. Dalmiya was not available for comment but sources close to him told DNA that the former president is most likely to meet the committee. He may also take his lawyer with him.

It was not clear what the next step will be after the disciplinary committee hearing. A member of the committee said all would depend on Dalmiya’s submission.

The BCCI had issued a showcause notice to Dalmiya, asking him to furnish details of a Pilcom account in the Bhawanipur branch of the Indian Overseas Bank in Kolkata.
