Exactly a week after several bombs ripped through suburban train compartments in Mumbai, sports and film celebrities will join Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to give a message for peace on national television.

‘Voices of India’, a two-minute film to be broadcast simultaneously across all television channels on Tuesday evening, will urge Indians to stay united and not to be cowed down by threats of terrorist attacks. A brainchild of MP Milind Deora, the film features Bollywood actors Shah Rukh Khan, Aamir Khan, Nana Patekar and Preity Zinta, filmmakers Yash Chopra and Karan Johar and cricketer Sachin Tendulkar. “11/7 will go down in Mumbai’s history as one of the darkest days. I could not sleep throughout the night after seeing images of the blasts. The gory visuals will remain with me forever,” Zinta said.

Shot over three days in Mumbai and London at a modest budget, the short film will also include news footage of the blasts.
