Travelocity to launch India site

United States-based travel agency Travelocity has said it will enter India by establishing a specialist online travel team here and launch the Travelocity India site later this year.

MUMBAI: United States-based travel agency Travelocity has said it will enter India by establishing a specialist online travel team here and launch the Travelocity India site later this year.
    
Zuji, an arm of Travelocity, will establish the team in India that will be supported by its regional headquarters in Singapore, Zuji CEO Scott Blume told reporters here.
    
The India site will be built on the existing tried and tested technology foundations of Zuji online travel sites operating in Asia Pacific, including Singapore, Australia and Hong Kong, he said.
    
Blume, citing reports, said that India is experiencing a trend of online travel bookings and the Asia Pacific travel market as a whole is expected to grow by 112 per cent to touch $25.6 billion.
 
India, is the seventh market for Zuji which is running its websites in Singapore, Australia, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Korea and New Zealand.
    
On entering mainland China, Blume said the research was on but it will not be in the immediate future.
    
He said the company had big plans for India and was here for a long -term stay, though he did not disclose overall investment.
 
The Zuji CEO added that they would focus on inbound and outbound leisure travellers.
