`Pramod and Pravin were never close’

MUMBAI: Anand Rao, son-in-law of Pramod Mahajan,  has said his father in law and the BJP’s leader’s  younger brother Pravin were never close.

"This was shocking and unexpected. In fact, my father-in-law and his brother Pravin were not close and I haven't seen him for the last 6 years at his(Mahajan's) house. He never suspected that his own brother would do this act to him," said Anand Rao, son-in-law of Pramod Mahajan told DNA.

Rao is married to Pramod Mahajan's daughter Poonam. She is seen as Pramod Mahajan’s political heir.

Rao denied that a reported property dispute was behind the incident. This was echoed by the Joint Commissioner of Police(Law and Order)Arup Pattnaik also.

Pramod Mahajan’s son Rahul, who usually stays in ,London is in Mumbai for some days.

Sources said that Pravin had high political ambitions and had more expectations as his brother was a high-profile BJP leader. "He was frustrated of not getting proper lift from Pramod Mahajan," they said.
