Leading film personalities, including Yash Chopra, music director Khayyam and actor Anil Kapoor, were on Thursday felicitated for their contribution to cinema at the closing ceremony of the International MAMI film festival. The jury also awarded the international award decided by the FIPRESCI, the international organisation of film critics, to Jhanu Barua’s Maine Gandhi Ko Nahin Mara.

The decision on Maine Gandhi Ko Nahi Maara was unanimous. Sources said Rituparno Ghosh’s Aantarmahal was also highly appreciated by the jury.

The Palestinian package was the main attraction of the festival. Rashid Mashirawi’s Curfew and Michel Khleifi’s Canticles of the Stones stood out for their poignant narration.

Dariusz Gajewski’s Warsaw (Poland) and Radoslav Spassov’s Stolen Eyes (Bulgaria) were the other attractions.

Chopra said the award was “all the more special’’ because it was given by members of the film industry.

Khayyam said his score for the film Kabhie Kabhie marked a “turning point” in his career.
