Though Mumbaikars have said an emphatic ‘no’ to a load shedding in the summer at a public hearing by the Maharashtra Electricity Regulatory Commission, they agreed that a lot needed to be done by the consumers themselves. 

The speakers wanted more lines for power transmission from other states.The weak and overburdened infrastructure stops the state from getting power. A 36-km transmission corridor in Chandrapur-Bhadrawati region is believed to pose the biggest snarl in transmitting power to the state. It is estimated to be operational by March-end.

Consumers stressed the need to use energy-efficient bulbs and cut down on consumption.
