As many as 100 people gathered outside the Yerwada Central Jail after it was announced that Ajmal Kasab, the lone terrorist caught alive during the 26/11 attacks on Mumbai in 2008, was hanged.

Kasab was hanged in the high-security jail in Pune at 7.30am on Wednesday.

Celebrations broke out as soon as the news broke out, with people hoisting the Tricolour outside the jail. They started shouting slogans like 'Vande Mataram', 'Bharat Mata ki Jai' outside the jail premises. Some even distributed sweets and congratulated each other over the hanging of the Pakistani terrorist.

Euphoric Rajkrushnan, an emplyee with private firm, distributed choclates outside the jail. He said, "It is great news for us. The justice got delayed but we are quite happy with the decision. I cannot express my happyness in words."

With Kasab meeting his fate, people are expecting that other terrorists too would be punished for waging war against India. Many said that Kasab's hanging sent a message to the terrorists who are plotting against the country.

One of the residents of Yerwada told DNA, "I will distribute tea for free today. I will celebrate this news with my family as well. I am quite happy."
