Lovers of literature and language will have an golden opportunity as a city based research institute in language, Institute of Advance Studies in English (IASE) is planning to organize a three day long International Conference on Literature, Language and Culture in the city.The Conference will have renowned professors and authors from across the globe who will present papers on contemporary language, literature and culture and their centrality in the human life.While speaking to dna, the Director of IASE, Dr Ashok Thorat said that imminent professors from various universities in India and other countries like England, United States of America and other several countries will present their papers on diverse subjects under Digital Humanities, New Media Studies and Future of Humanities Studies tracks.
"Tracks for discussions and paper presentations will be as Language, Literature and Ideology, Culture, Communication and Identity, Culture Studies, Feminist and Gender Studies, Diaspora Identities, Digital Humanities, Film Studies, Contemporary Literature and Media and Language, Gender and Power," he said.He added, "We especially encourage papers that examine the intersection of digital technology and the Humanities."There will have discussions and presentations on what are the new methodologies, theories, and sites of study that are emerging from this intersection? What kind of collaborations between the humanities and sciences must we envision for 21st century education and research?
Apart from the paper presentation, there would be professional development workshops on Writing and Publishing and Conference Do's and Don'ts. Students and the teachers will have opportunity to participate in the workshop where they can hone their skills.Imminent Professor in English at Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda, Dr P C Kar, Sukanta Choudhuri, a Professor Emeritus at Jadhavpur university, professor and author from England, G N Leech, who is also a specialist in English Language and Linguistics and several other renowned linguists will be attending the conference.The conference will take place between December 15 and 17 at YASHADA. The last date to submit the research papers is November 1, 2014.
