Four men on motorcycles steal 20.57 lakhs after spraying chilli powder on cashier

Pune: Four unidentified motorcycle-borne men allegedly beat up, sprayed chilly powder and forcefully took Rs 20.57 lakh cash from a cashier working at a petrol pump at Satara Road near Khed-Shikrapur highway. The cashier was on his way to the bank to deposit the money.

Cashier Maula Shaikh, 28, from Osmanabad and currently staying at Kelval in Bhor Taluka, has lodged a complaint with Rajgad police station against an unidentified person on Monday afternoon. Shaikh is working at Bharat Petroleum petrol pump situated at Kelval area.
The local crime branch inspector Shivaji Devkar said, “Bharat Petroleum owns two petrol pumps in Kelval and Khed areas. Rs20.57 lakh cash was collected at the weekend from Kelval petrol pump. On Monday around 10.30 am, he along with his friend was on his way to Khed-Shivapur road near Satara Road to hand over the cash to another cashier working at Khed to 
be deposited in State Bank of India.”
He added, “Around 11 am, four unidentified persons on two motorbikes came from behind and restrained Shaikh’s motorbike. One youth, with his face covered, punched Shaikh and his friend. The others then beat the duo up. The duo was even stabbed. The foursome proceeded to spray chilly powder on Shaikh and his friend. They then fled with the bag 
of cash.” Devkar said the case is being investigated with the help of the city police and footage from CCTV cameras in the area.
