Sameer Flute, a unique musical instrument developed by young computer engineer from Sangli, Sameer Inamdar, has been included in the Limca Book of Records. Inamdar had announced the development of the instrument in January 2012.

According to Inamdar, the Limca Book of Records sent him an e-mail confirming the entry of his flute in its January 2013 edition as a record.

Inamdar said that while normal bamboo flute can produce sound up to 40 to 50 decibel, the instrument developed by him can produce sound up to 60 to 85 decibel.

Uday Ghatge from Brain Chamber Research Institute, Kolhapur, who also has an experience of working with the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) assisted him in developing the instrument.

“In this flute, I have placed a chamber right below the blowing hole of the flute and the chamber is adjusted at a particular angle which results in producing optimal vibrations,” Inamdar said.
Being a dhrupad student, Sameer is specially interested in developing a flute which can match the tonal quality standards and sound which is required for dhrupad.

“I tried many designs and after almost 12 months of permutations and combinations, finalised this design,” he said.
