The Baramati City police have registered a case against Sunil Pote, a member of Baramati Municipal Council for allegedly trying to kill a lady police sub-inspector (PSI) of Pune rural police at her residence in Police Colony in Baramati on Saturday night.

Interestingly, the PSI was arrested by the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) while taking bribe from Pote two weeks ago at the Baramati police station. The Baramati police have said that PSI Deepali Shinde did not receive any injury in the incident.

Sources from the Pune rural police have claimed that Shinde was annoyed with Pote and wanted to take revenge. As a result, she along with her husband had hatched a plan to drag Pote in the case.

Speaking to dna, police inspector Sarjerao Patil of Baramati city police station said, “On Saturday, Shinde filed a complaint against Pote and his four associates alleging that they forcefully entered into her house, beat up her husband and later poured kerosene on her to set her afire. However, the PSI’s husband saved her and she did not receive any burn injuries in the incident.”

When asked why Pote and his associates have not been arrested in the case, Patil said, “We have lodged a case and our investigations are on. We will make the arrests, once we complete our peobe.”  The police have lodged a complaint against Pote and his associates under relevant sections of IPC, 1860.
