If you come across this man and if he promises you that he would help your child to get admission in the city’s reputed colleges from the management quota, do not trust him. He is wanted in a recent case, in which he cheated a Nashik-based person to the tune of Rs5 lakh by promising admission to MBBS course in Talegaon Dabhade College.

The Kothrud police have recovered a CCTV footage from the MIT College in which he was seen with the complainant, Vitthal Yawalkar on September 30.

As per the complaint given by Yawalkar, the person in the CCTV grab introduced himself to him as Sachin Singh. Yawalkar claimed that there were two more persons involved in the case.

In a similar case, three persons had allegedly cheated a Ratlam-based professor Dilip Shakalya to the tune of Rs23 Lakh by promising that they would help his brother to get admission to a medical college at Talegaon Dabhade. They gave the complainant a forged offer letter bearing the college logo and stamp, took the cash and and disappeared.

“In the Shakalya case, we asked for the CCTV footage from the MIT Kothrud campus. As per the complainant, the accused had met him on the MIT College campus a month ago and he even roamed around the campus with them. College authorities said they only keep recording of the last 15 days and the meeting of Shakalya took place a month ago,” SB Navale, the police inspector with Kothrud police station explained.

Police suspect that the fraudsters in the two cases are same. A police officer said that these fraudsters use sim cards which are procured on fake identities and they use this cards only to have conversation with gullible students and parents.

Last month, a 20-year-old student was duped of Rs22.5 lakh by four people and the money was exchanged on the premises of Kashibai Navale Medical College in Narhe. The case was registered with Dattawadi police station.

“We demanded the college to give them the CCTV footage, however the college authorities did not give them saying they only have a CCTV footage of the last 10 to 15 days,” said police inspector Satish Govekar of Dattawadi police station.
