The crime branch officials on Wednesday arrested tele-marketing head of a private company, dealing in health products. The arrested person Tejas Desai, 38, is alleged to have passed on the data of the firm he was working with to the rivals.

According to the police, complainant is working with a tele-marketing company, which deals in health and wellness products and contacts their customers through telephones. This company is in touch with all those companies across the globe that deals in the same business.

“Desai is a tele-marketing chief and heads the call centre operations of the company and has access client details and database information,” said an officer, cyber crime police station requesting anonymity. The officer explained that, as per the rules of this company, during the employment of a person he has to sign non-disclosure and confidential agreement, wherein it is clearly stated that no information of the company can be shared.

“Few months ago, the company started losing their customers who were going to the rival firms. The company officials then monitored the origin of problem and learnt that Desai was in contact with few people and was suspected to be passing information. His emails were checked and it was learnt that some information and mails were deleted by him,” the officer said.

“We have arrested Desai and are investigating as to who was he in touch with. We have seized his mobile phone, hardisk and a pen-drive,” said the officer.
