Very soon, you will able to charge mobile and laptop on the move, thanks to a handy device being developed as the world’s first integrated solar storage tile. The device christened as Amrita Smart  uses a super capacitor aided by nano technology and will hit the market within a year.

If the research at the Kochi-based Amrita Centre for Nano Sciences is anything to go by, this mobile and laptop charging product called by ‘Amrita Smart’ device will combine a solar cell and a battery to power devices. Stating that energy generation and storage must go hand in hand, Dr Shanti Nair, Director, Amrita Centre for Nano Sciences said, “Development of the solar storage tile is a milestone in both hnano-solar aided research and in the field of renewable energy sector.”

In all, weighing 200 gram, the patented product uses special electronics to integrate the solar cell with the storage device.
The products are capable of charging a laptop or a mobile phone and which can be extended for building integrated solar storage and usage (home use) at night without the need for expensive battery systems.

The solar modules needs only four hours of charging exposure in sun, and later charge the laptops and mobile phones in two more hours. It has storage capacity of seven days.
