Chief minister Prithviraj Chavan on Saturday said he would take initiative to reach a consensus among political parties regarding issues facing Pune.
He was speaking after unveiling the statue of former MLA Vitthalrao Shivarkar in Wanavdi area. The event was organised by the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) and Vitthalrao Shivarkar memorial committee.
He said Vitthalrao Shivarkar had participated in the ‘Samyukta Maharashtra Movement’ and was an efficient legislator. His son and former minister of state Balasaheb Shivarkar is continuing the legacy.
Senior ministers Patangrao Kadam, Balasaheb Thorat and Harshawardhan Patil were present. Deputy chief minister Ajit Pawar was conspicuous by his absence at the event. The Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader had visited the residence of late MLA Ramesh Wanjale to pay homage.
